One night Alicja, a young Polish gynecologist, receives a call from an old friend, Natalia. When they meet, Natalia reveals she is pregnant and wants Alicja to perform an abortion, but she refuses. Later that night, an ambulance brings Natalia back to the hospital after her futile at-home abortion attempt. Alicja is now forced to act, trapped between law and morality.
