有点有面，层层递进，除了谈复辟的事情，还交代了塔列朗和富歇的人生经历，有点褒塔列朗贬富歇。此外颇有一些惊人的台词，如富歇畅想了一番塔列朗被群众剥光，绒衣和内裤被扔进水里飘走，只能裸着靠在铁腿上的场景。（塔列朗遂认为他有心理问题开始谈心，最后两个人比惨。）不过塔列朗瘸的是右腿，剧中却是左腿。片中也有一些演绎成分，如塔列朗家族和大孔代有亲戚关系等。
